The Elephant In The Room

This is something that has been on our hearts and minds over the last year. How do we talk about the elephant in the room? How do we talk about the reality that we need supporters to sustain our mission but we don’t want to turn people off or have friendships ruined? How do you go about raising support in a biblical manner? Can we be honest about how hard things are without people thinking that we just want money? These are all very real and honest thoughts and questions that we have been struggling with …so, we are going to TALK about it.

First and foremost we know that not everyone will be able to support us financially. Many of you have already committed to supporting other missionary families or organizations. We get that and we want you to honor your commitments. The last thing we would want is for money to be taken away from another family. We know how much every dollar is needed and we would never ask that of you!

Secondly, we know that not all of our supporters are here to support us financially. We also need prayer warriors and people who can help support us in other ways as well. The missionary life is full of great highs and deep lows and we need people willing to dedicate prayer time to our family and intercede on our behalf.

Third, we do need supporters… that is the raw reality of it. We have been able to sustain thus far from what we had sold last year and now we are needing people in our corner. We are needing people, churches or businesses that the Holy Spirit is nudging to commit to our family for a season. It may be for 6months, a year or two. So there it is. There is the elephant.

Fourth, we need a place to talk about the realities of missionary life. We in no way are trying to guilt anyone into being supporters. That is not our heart, nor is that biblical. We need to be able to share about this journey in a very raw and honest way and we want and need you to partner and pray for us along the way!

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. “2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NIV)

Finally, we want to take a moment to clearly communicate what we’re doing and what our vision is in this season.

As department leaders of Creative Media our vision is to:

1. Support the Lakeside YWAM base by promoting the programs and schools to bring in hungry students who are being led and have a heart for full-time missions.

2.Most importantly, build a team of missionaries who are creatively gifted to be sent on outreaches to teach various creative media classes while sharing the Gospel to unreached people groups.

As a co-leader to the security department:

1. JT will be helping to assist the safety and security of our campus and campuses across the country for students, staff and guests.

2. He will be assisting YWAM bases who are in closed nations where their faith can result in jail time or death. The mission will be to teach classes, create policies and safety procedures, in addition to fortifying the campuses.

Please prayerfully consider partnering with our ministry monthly for $10 - $100. There is honestly, no gift that is too small. We don’t want to just talk about the elephant in the room. We want to eat it…and the only way we can do that is one bite at a time. Everyone has different utensils but together we can accomplish The Great Commission!
